May 31 2009

Moon in Virgo is/was conjunct Saturn exact at 5:38 am PDT, and will be trine Mercury exact at 7:32 pm PDT. After the collective phew of relief last night, there may be a bit of sadness, feeling small and/or alone this morning from Moon/Saturn, fortunately tempered by Lilith Moon trine Saturn; so if one stays with the sensation, differentiates from it, there may be insight into one's place within the bigger picture. May be a flavor in the ethers of curious, restless quest for knowledge. In the evening, likely a conguence beteween thoughts and emotions, good time to sort out the morning's emotion driven events. What is important? What is real to you?

The Birthcard today is the Ace of Clubs, a Mercury expression of a Venus core, paired with the Two of Hearts. It is one of two pairs of Cards that trade places back and forth within each pair. Various incarnational expressions of this Card are Calvin Klein, Jodie Foster, Jack Welch, Dick Cavett, and Meg Ryan. Ironically, the character played by Jodie Foster in the Movie "Contact", Ellie Harroway had this same Birthcard (a different Birthday, but the same Birthcard). Is that random or what?

May 30 2009 Moon First Quarter

Remember any dreams? Moon finished off in Leo trine Mars in the middle of the night. Moon in Virgo will be trine Pluto exact at 7:44 am PDT and square the Sun exact at 8:22 pm PDT. A good morning for intense emotions and explorations of depth, superficiality won't do. There may be a vibe in the air of comradere, the need to be connected and shared with; with an outside shell of bravado hiding inner fears. The big story for today is Mercury goes direct at 6:22 pm PDT. Even though Retrograde is officially over, there is still about a week of stiction days ahead, but there will be a collective sigh of relief tonight. There is a myth of the reason for Mercury retrograde and it's attendant mis and missed communications: Hermes the Messenger is pissed that modern "civil"ization has commercialized and trivialized him down to being some cutesy FTD guy with wings on his feet delivering flowers.

The Birthcard today is the Two of Clubs, a Uranus implementation of a Saturn core, with an Ace of Spades inside and a King of Hearts outside. Arthur C. Clarke, Tom Petty, Sandra Bullock, Mick Jagger, and Segolene Royal all share this Birthcard.

May 29 2009

Moon in Leo will be square Mercury exact at 3:09 pm PDT, trine Venus exact at 3:21 pm PDT, and sweeping opposite the Chiron/Neptune/Jupiter trio, "exact" around 9 pm PDT. Even with the harmonious trine of Venus leading into the month of second spring (see last post), there may be an uncertainty in the air today, annoyances and sensitivities may demand attention. Keep the faith, Mercury Retrograde is almost complete this cycle. This would be a very good evening to refrain from self medication, not that anybody listens to such advice.

The Birthcard today is the Three of Clubs, a Saturn implementation of a Mars core, with a Five of Diamonds inside and a King of Diamonds outside. Recognizable names of incarnations expressing through this Birthcard include Freeman Dyson, J. Paul Getty, Howard Dean, JFK, Martin Scorsese, and Bill Murray.

May 28 2009

Moon in Leo is conjunct the south node this morning and will be sextile the Sun exact at 1:23 pm PDT. After a slightly off start, has the makings for a stable, harmonious day, except that we are in the final stiction days of Mercury Retrograde...and Neptune goes Retrograde this evening. There may be a subtle flavor in the ethers along the axis of intellectual distinction/diffusion, could go either way. Longer term, Chiron/Neptune/Jupiter are still tight conjunct in Aquarius, and Venus is catching up with Mars, just in the orb of conjunct for a courtship through the end of June. Exact by June 20th, possibility of a second springtime. Gentlemen, start your poems. Candy may be dandy, liquor may be quicker, but poetry and Art make for deeper, more meaningful, and more pleasurable liaisons.

The Birthcard today is the Four of Clubs, a Mars expression of a Jupiter core, with a Five of Clubs inside and a Six of Hearts outside. Spike Jones, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sophia Loren, Tori Amos, and John-David all share this Birthcard.

May 27 2009

Moon is busy in Cancer, square Venus exact at 10:03 am PDT, sextile Mercury exact at 1:38 pm PDT, trine Uranus exact at 6:24 pm PDT, and square Mars exact at 8:06 pm PDT when she goes Moon Void of Course till around midnight. Against a backdrop of intellectual curiosity bordering on restlessness, there will likely be a reasonable dose of harmony today, shifting to possible irritation around sunset and then losing mojo a bit later. If things feel odd and hard to describe in the evening, don't panic, it will pass after midnight.

The Birthcard of the day is the Five of Clubs, a Mercury expression of a Saturn core, with a Five of Hearts inside and a Four of Clubs outside. Rene Descartes, Beverly D'Angelo, Ziggy Marley, Christopher Dodd, Arthur Miller, Evel Knievel, Kenny Rogers, and Al Gore are incarnational examples of the 5C.

May 26 2009

Moon at Home in Cancer was opposite Pluto overnight around dark-thirty making it good morning to pay attention to your dreams, as they may well have deeper meanings embedded within them. The rest of the day, Moon just hangs around home, and around midnight will be sextile Saturn and opposite Lilith Moon. Mars is sextile the Chiron/Jupiter/Neptune trio. There may be a dichotomy in the air today, could be experienced multiple ways within either or both memes: order/rules/authority and psychic/empathic/intuitive.

The Birthcard today is the Six of Clubs, a Neptune implementation of a Saturn core, with an Eight of Spades inside and a Two of Diamonds outside. Vincent Van Gogh, Yanni (!), Condoleezza Rice (!!), Tim Robbins, Jessica Alba, Ron Paul, Hunter S. Thompson, and John Glenn are various incarnations expressing through this Birthcard.

May 25 2009

Moon in Gemini was square Juno pre-dawn, and will be conjunct Vesta exact at 6:24 am PDT, sextile Venus exact at 6:32 am PDT, sextile Mars exact at 4:50 pm PDT, square Uranus exact at 5:41 pm PDT, then a sweep of trine the tight Chiron/Jupiter/Neptune trio ending at 6:18 pm PDT when she goes Moon Void of Course till 11:58 pm PDT. A bit of a Kaleidoscope Moon day, but the morning emphasis of the Vesta/Venus sextile should add some harmony to familial ties, or at least those we are close to on a regular basis. There may be a hint of melancholy, or doubt, or the kind of skepticism associated with genius in the air today; it needs proof, as in show me. So show somebody some light and love, not just today, but certainly today. A chance of paradox later in the day with either surprise/excitement or resolution/aha; then a good evening to chill and/or see an Arthouse flick. One suggestion to fit the inventive, creative, Kaleidoscope meme of the day: "The American Ruling Class" available online with a hilarious dose of sponsorship irony.

Today's Birthcard is the Seven of Clubs, a Saturn implementation of a Uranus core, with an Eight of Diamonds inside and a Jack of Spades outside. Bill Clinton, Whoopi Goldberg, Sam Walton, Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Ogden Nash, and Robin Williams all share this Birthcard.

May 24 2009 New Moon

Moon in Gemini starts off the day conjunct Sun exact at 5:11 am PDT and trine/sextile the north/south node axis. Later on Moon will be square Saturn, exact at 11:47 pm PDT. The Chiron/Jupiter/Neptune is still quite tight. The flavor in the air today will likely have a tinge of power, either wielding it or yielding to it. Off to a good start, it would be a good day for new beginnings, except it's still Mercury Retrograde, and into the stiction days, so better for planning while wrapping up things. Later there may be a feeling of melancholy, or pessimism. Good chance to get a taste of a transit induced delusion and distinguish from it, particularly after it has passed.

The Birthcard today is the powerful Eight of Clubs, a Mars expression of a Neptune core, one of the three source cards that is the same inside as outside, WYSIWYG. Thomas Dolby, Priscilla Presley, Edmund Muskie, Hank Paulson, Timothy Geithner, Austan Goolsbee, Gary Wright, and Meryl Streep are various incarnations expressing through this Birthcard.

May 23 2009

Moon in Taurus will be conjunct Mercury exact at 2:47 pm PDT, sextile Uranus exact at 5:06 pm PDT, then sweeping square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio ending at 5:49 pm PDT when she goes Moon Void of Course till 11:34 pm PDT. There may be a creative vibe in the air today, with some of the tormented Artist angst thrown in. Feelings, impressions will likely reign, with added excitement by afternoon. Dinnertime may be quite imaginative, bordering on delusional, with lacking mojo and little followthrough in the evening. A good day to quit sniffing glue, and a good evening for an Arthouse Flick. Take earplugs if you go to the IMAX, as that venue would not likely have anything Artsy, but will be cranked up to 11 to impress the impressionable, of which you are not likely one.

The Birthcard today is the 9 of Clubs, a Venus expression of a Saturn core with a Queen of Hearts inside and a 6 of Diamonds outside. 9Cs include Ken Wilber whether he likes it or not, Tony Robbins, Albert King, Zane Grey, Ella Fitzgerald, Lindz Lawlor who does like it, Valerie Innes who usually likes it, Artie Shaw, Quentin Tarantino, and Jean-Paul Sartre.

May 22 2009

Moon in Taurus was trine Pluto in the wee hours, you may attribute any intense dreams and morning encounters to that if you wish. Moon will be making a grand trine with Saturn and Lilith Moon tonight, exact with Saturn at 10:50 pm PDT. There may be an underlying urge to know and learn today, starting with an intensity, possibly in tandem, and shifting in reverse order to what one would expect on a Friday: one may feel more like being "alone with the Cosmos", contemplating one's place within it, if we may end a sentence with a preposition. There will be a broken record for months: Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune are conjunct. Particularly tight now, nailing Leos and particularly Aquarians. See links and prior posts for more details.

The Birthcard today is the 10 of Clubs, a Solar expression of a Mars core and some flexibility to experience a Venus or Mercury core with a Jack of Spades inside and a 4 of Spades outside. 10Cs include Phil Collins, Jack Abramoff, Paul Krugman, Steven Chu, Leonard Nimoy, Richard Dawkins, Erica Jong, Barbra Streisand, Joseph Campbell, and Shirley MacLaine.

May 21 2009

Moon finishing up in Aries is conjunct Mars exact at 8:22 am PDT, then sweeping sextile the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio ending at 3:36 pm PDT when she goes Moon Void of Course till 9:40 pm PDT. Then, into Taurus. Likely a creative edge in the air today, particularly in the morning which could be on the verge of irritation, easing by afternoon. A good evening to chill, go see an Arthouse flick. If you were born mid to end of February, an Aquarius, and have been wondering why the Age of Aquarius has been more like the rage of aquariums lately: the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio at 26 degrees Aquarius has been sitting right on your Sun for a while, and will be for a while more. You probably don't recall them calling first before dropping in, and now that they are staying for a bit...have a look at prior posts; and do some searches on the interwebs for permutations of transits of Sun/Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune. This would be a prime opportunity to get a feel of how to transcend the ego, differentiate from the experiences you are having.

The Birthcard today is the Jack of Clubs, a Uranus expression of a Venus core, with a Jack of Diamonds inside and a 10 of Hearts outside. JCs include Rahm Emanuel, Ralph Nader, Oprah, Susie Bright, Howard Cosell, Jim Fixx, and Paula Abdul, whether they know it or not.

May 20 2009

As the Sun moves on, Mercury is passing square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio and sextile Uranus, for a "cleaner" feel of the weekend's transits: excitement, grandiose plans, delusional idealism, confusion as to who's on first. There may be a bit of drama, emotional turmoil in the air. Moon in Aries conjunct Venus, exact at 8:23 pm PDT, may harmonize things later in the day, but as they are square Lilith Moon, expect some of the bigger, deeper questions to be asked, and preferrably discussed, in the midst of any warm fuzzies tonight.

The Birthcard today is the Queen of Clubs, a Mercury expression of a Mars core, with a 3 of Hearts inside and a 10 of Diamonds outside. QCs include Michael Bolton, Robert Novak, Nikolai Lenin, Debra Gangale, Arthur Laffer, Jack Nicholson, Aaron Spelling, Cher, Nicolas Sarkozy, Charles Mingus, John Stewart Mill, and Sir Paul McCartney.

May 19 2009

Moon finishes up in Pisces conjunct Uranus exact at 8:55 am PDT, sextile Mercury exact at 10:39 am PDT, and sextile Sun exact at 2:43 pm PDT when there is a brief Moon Void of Course. At 4:30 pm PDT Moon enters Aries, and is square Pluto exact at 9:38 pm PDT. Likely a bit of an eclectic flavor in the air, chance of surprises, followed with good communication, and intesne emotions in the evening.

The Birthcard today is the King of Clubs, a double Uranus with a 2 of Spades inside and an 8 of Spades outside. KCs include Keith Olbermann, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Chaka Khan, Pierre Simon Laplace, Ric Ocasek, Barry Manilow, Gary Stadler, Jesse Ventura, and James "J Bob Dobbs" Dobson.

May 18 2009

Moon in Pisces will be giving the Vesta/Juno/Saturn T-square a kick today; opposite Saturn exact at 12:13 pm PDT, square Vesta exact at 2:44 pm PDT, and conjunct Juno exact at 3:34 pm PDT. Fortunately, Lilith Moon is trine/sextile the Saturn/Juno axis, so there is a good chance that one can get some perspective about any heavies regarding home and relationships that may be felt today. Self value may feel small/ insignificant, or stymied in assertion of self, but again, there are insights to be gained by "increasing" one's perspective rather than one's acquisitions.

The Birthcard today is the Ace of Diamonds, a Jupiter expression of a Neptune core, with a 2 of Diamonds inside and an Ace of Hearts outside. ADs include Marcel Marceau, George Soros, Angela Davis, Ray Conniff, Paul Hogan, William Shatner, Dennis Kucinich, and Gerald R. Ford.

May 17 2009

Moon comes out of Void of Course into Pisces, her home away from home, at 7:17 am PDT. Moon will be sextile Pluto exact at 12:52 pm PDT. Although we are in the middle of Mercury Retrograde with it's attendant monkeywrenches, there is likely a phew relief as Saturn is now out of Retrograde. A particularly "Saturnesque" kind of tension or blockage of the flow that we were becoming accustomed to is just suddenly not there. Today is good for inquiries into and appreciation of depth, particularly in relation, family, or community. What's backstage behind the curtain? A simple complement will go a long way, but remember that disingenuous flattery is ultimately counterproductive and even potentially destructive.

The Birthcard for today is the 2 of Diamonds, a Mars expression of a Saturn core with a 6 of Clubs inside and an Ace of Diamonds outside. 2Ds include Corazon Aquino, Viktor Yushchenko, Modest Mussorgsky, Rosie O'Donnell, Dudley Moore, Taj Mahal, Johannes Gutenberg, Ole Evinrude, Trent Reznor, and Howard Jones.

May 16 2009 Moon Last Quarter

Moon in Aquarius will get the day off to a good start sextile Mars exact at 8:25 am PDT, coast through the day, and starting around 11 pm PDT, sweep conjunct Jupiter, conjunct Chiron, conjunct Neptune, ending up square Sun for Moon Last Quarter just past midnight PDT. Mercury/Sun are sextile Uranus and square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio. To add to the fun, Vesta is T-square the Saturn/Juno opposition. Fortunately, Lilith Moon is sextile/trine the Juno/Saturn opposition. Saturn goes direct tonight. Excitement, grandiose plans, delusional idealism, confusion as to who's on first may call as seemingly pleasant distractions from family, responsibility, commitment. Although there is likely to be a phew of relief as the relentless pressure of Saturn lessens, there may be a bit of uncertainty in the air today.

The Birthcard today is the 3 of Diamonds, a Mercury expression of a Uranus core, with a 6 of Hearts inside and a Queen of Diamonds outside. 3Ds include John Belushi, Neil Diamond, Oral (!) Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Edward Kennedy, Fred Rogers, Rick Moranis, and Pierce Brosnan.

Friday, May 15, 2009

May 15 2009

Moon in Aquarius starts off the day in high spirits from conjunct north node overnight, then waits most of the day before transiting sextile Venus exact at 6:18 pm PDT. So far as Luna is concerned, a good day, solid grounded sense of well being, good connections, communications; almost possible to forget Retrograde. See the last couple of posts for flavors from slower moving heavenly bodies.

The Birthcard today is the 4 of Diamonds, a Neptune expression of a Venus core, with a 5 of Spades inside and a 5 of Hearts outside. 4D incarnations include Antonio Villaraigosa, Jake Steinfeld, David Geffen, Richard Tarnas, Ornette Coleman, Brian Eno, William Butler Yeats, and James Clerk Maxwell.

May 14 2009

Moon in Capricorn is trine Sun exact at 6:35 am PDT, sextile Uranus exact at 10:20 am PDT, trine Mercury exact at 5:58 pm PDT when she goes for a brief Moon Void of Course. At 7:01 pm PDT, Moon enters Aquarius. A mini grand trine with Uranus in the middle of Sun and Moon. Generally good feelings in the morning, a bit of excitement, good communications, coherence between intellect and emotion. Except, Mercury is in Retrograde tossing a monkeywrench in the gears randomly, and: with Sun advancing forward and Mercury moving Retrograde (from our terrestrial perspective) we have an interesting "Full" [clarification: full as in lots of transits] Moon weekend ahead. Already in the orb and being felt in the ethers, Mercury/Sun will converge sextile Uranus and square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio. To add to the fun, Vesta is T-square the Saturn/Juno opposition. Excitement, grandiose plans, delusional idealism, confusion as to who's on first may call as seemingly pleasant distractions from family, responsibility, commitment. Also for this weekend, those born in Sept, known as Virgos, who have been feeling a bit of a squeeze may feel a bit of relief as Saturn finishes off it's retrograde back to 14 degrees Virgo. Things will slowly continue lift in the next couple months or so.

The Birthcard today is the 5 of Diamonds, a Saturn implementation of a Neptune core, with a 9 of Diamonds inside and a 3 of Clubs outside. 5D incarnations include Neil Bush, Sam Cooke, Grover Cleveland, Patty Hearst, Ivana Trump, Peter Graves, Dusty Springfield, Edgar Cayce, and Herbie Mann.

May 13 2009

How intimately we are tied to and with the Moon, the Earth wiggles one third of it's diameter in the dance. Moon in Capricorn was square Venus overnight, hopefully bringing pleasant dreams, and will be joining Lilith Moon in bringing some reprieve to the Juno/Saturn opposition: conjunct Lilith Moon, sextile Juno, and trine Saturn "exact" in the 11 to noon PDT timeframe. Later Moon will be square Mars exact at 3:24 pm PDT. Values, responsibilities, long term commitments may be up for discussion, and be aware that by afternoon irritations may flare. Remember it's still Mercury Retrograde, so put away the literal and metaphorical weapons. This is a time for review, and like all transits, it will pass.

The Birthcard today is the 6 of Diamonds, a Jupiter expression of a Mercury core, with a 9 of Clubs inside and a 3 of Spades outside. 6Ds include Geena Davis, Paul Allen, Seal, Rudolf Nureyev, Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Tom Hanks, Raquel Welch, and Freddie Mercury.

May 12 2009

Moon enters Capricorn 6:09 am PDT after an overnight Void of Course. Today is the Therapist's transit: our friend the Moon is conjunct Pluto exact around noon PDT, so dig deeply, feel those emotions bubbling up from wherever they may have been stuffed for years or even decades. Intense. Possible themes around our two favorite subjects in the west: love and money.

We mention in passing the antithesis of some philosophies: "thou are NOT that" for a reason. A few too many prognosticators (some quite skilled) in the Archetypal realms throw around terms such as soul and destiny a bit too casually and superficially for our tastes. Recognizing patterns in Starcharts, Birthcards, Numbers is not a window to you, your soul. Towards you, but not you. They are still filters, lenses, maps, so to speak. Another layer of illusions to be peeled away, astral fog. May you drink deeply the waters of awakening.

The Birthcard of the day is the 7 of Diamonds, a double Venus with a "veiled" double Saturn inside and outside. 7D incarnations include George Carlin, Matt Dillon, Yoko Ono, Pat Nixon, Farley Mowat, Henny Youngman, Julie Christie, Paul Begala, F. Lee Bailey, James Madison, and George Burns.

May 11 2009

Any overnight sadness, dreams or awake, was probably Moon was square Saturn in the wee hours past, around dark-thirty. Later today, Moon in Sagittarius will be square Uranus exact at 9:24 pm PDT; and will be sextile the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio exact at 8:33 pm PDT, 10:13 pm PDT, and 10:56 pm PDT when she goes Moon Void of course overnight. The evening may bring good imagination and an inclination to think big with it; but beware the heavy hand of power jumping to conclusions. Sun is in the orb of square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio and sextile Uranus over the next week or so. Likely a mix of innovation and grandiousity or delusions; the Archetypal mad scientist with a good heart.

The Birthcard today is the 8 of Diamonds, a crown card with a Jupiter core, with a Queen of Spades inside and a 7 of Clubs outside. 8Ds include Paris Hilton, Dolly Parton, Fabio Lanzoni, Al Green, Sly Stone, Thomas Jefferson, Martha Quinn, Jim Jeffords, and Andrew Jackson.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

May 10 2009

For Mother's Day, Moon in Sagittarius will be trine Venus exact at 9:50 am PDT. That is one of the most harmonious transits of the bunch. Enjoy. Later, Moon will be giving a kick to the Vesta/Juno square while harmoniously emphasizing Mars; opposite Vesta exact at 8:06 pm PDT, square Juno exact at 10:04 pm PDT, and trine Mars exact at 10:59 pm PDT. This is a good time to talk about generational ties, family connections, long term commitments.

The Birthcard today is the 9 of Diamonds, a Uranus implementation of a Mars core, with a Queen of Diamonds inside and a 5 of Diamonds outside. 9Ds include Barack Obama, Ray Dolby, Cleveland Amory, Tom Clancy, Sylvester Stallone, Dubya, and Francis Crick.

May 9 2009

Moon finishing up in Scorpio this morning sweeps square the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio and trines Uranus, ending up Moon Void of Course at 11:49 am PDT. Moon VOC till 6:49 pm PDT when she enters Sagittarius. Then opposite Mercury exact at 9:30 pm PDT. Likely moods of dreamy excitement, lofty dreams and fantasies. Beware that the shadow side of extravagance is gluttony or excess. Afternoon is a good time to chill, and in the evening love and logic may be at odds; prejudices and biases may show themselves as unreachable by reason.

The Birthcard of today is the 10 of Diamonds, a double Jupiter, with a Queen of Clubs inside and a Queen of Spades outside. P. T. Barnum, Martha Stewart, Gloria Estefan, Phil McGraw, Zooey Deschanel, Andy Kaufman, Candice Bergen, Douglas Hofstadter, and Sammy Kaye are all examples of the 10 of Diamonds incarnate.

May 8 2009 Full Moon

Moon in Scorpio will be making a mini grand trine, at the midpoint of the Saturn/Lilith Moon trine; sextile Lilith Moon exact at 11:56 am PDT and sextile Saturn exact at 1:58 pm PDT. Moon will be exact opposite Sun aka the wondrous, beautiful, intense Full Moon at 9:01 pm PDT. There is likely a creative vibe in the ethers today, possibly a little tricksterish, possibly a tendency to want to do everything and have trouble deciding or narrowing down choices. Urges to get something significant done may be thwarted by Mercury Retrogrsade, best to wrap things up, plan and replan, finish up loose ends. Longer term, idealism still abounds as Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune are conjunct and will remain in the orb through the end of the year. They are moving, but from our perspective, they will appear to retrograde back and forth near each other, with Jupiter leaving the Chiron/Neptune conjunction early 2010. Plenty of time to heal ourselves and help others; best to do the former first, else do-gooding becomes a distraction.

The Birthcard of the day is the Jack of Diamonds, a Uranus implementation of a Neptune core, with a 3 of Spades inside and a Jack of Clubs outside. Rube Goldberg, Mojo Nixon, Samuel Hahnemann, Ann Landers, Abigail Van Buren, Kirk Kerkorian, Keith Jarrett, Max Von Sydow, Joseph Pulitzer, Louis Armstrong and the USA were/are all JD. Diamonds, not Daniels.

May 7 2009

On the first day of Retrograde, my true love brought to me...Moon starts off the day Void of Course, and enters Scorpio at 9:48 am PDT. She is sextile Pluto, exact at 3:26 pm PDT. Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune are still conjunct, see prior posts for details. After a morning off to a sloggy start, a good chance of deep, profound emotions with an intensity that could be obsessive. The usual caveat with Moon VOC mornings: the extra caffeine consumed won't kick in till later when it really kicks in. There could be a bit of an unsettled vibe in the air, with a tendency to look to retail therapy as a temporary cure. If you can resist, it usually is good advice to not purchase shiny things, anything other than the usual stable staples during Retrograde. Higher percentage of broken toys, returns, snafus. Not that anybody listens to such dreary advice...

The Birthcard today is the Queen of Diamonds, a Saturn implementation of a Mercury core, with a 3 of Diamonds inside and a 9 of Diamonds outside. Captain Beefheart, Lloyd Bridges, Hugh Hefner, Jerry Zucker, Aristotle Onassis share this Birthcard, along with Edward Teller, Antonin Scalia, and Rupert Murdoch.

May 6 2009 Mercury Retrograde

Moon in Libra was square Lilith Moon pre-dawn, and will be trine Jupiter at 11:56 pm PDT. At least Mercury Retrograde, exact at 10:01 pm PDT, starts off with a nice Jupiter/Moon transit. After that...it's retro: not just 80's big hair. If communication is missed, misunderstood or combative, desires are thwarted or blocked, you feel stuck or bottled, interpretations are taken in the worst possible way, that's retrograde---the shadow or trickster side of Hermes. It could be opposite day, but it might not be. If you ask if it is opposite day during opposite day, what answer do you get? See the link on the left under connections. The official retrograde is May 6 thru May 30, however there is more to it. Think of overlapping waves, and think of a slowly swinging pendulum. At the upper end of each swing it slows down before reversing direction. Likewise, the relative motion between Earth and Mercury passes through phases of forward, stiction, reverse, stiction, repeat. The stiction phases overlapping with the "actual" retrograde are in some ways less fun and more troubling than the "pure" retrograde. Relationships are prone to questioning and upsets during the stiction phase, those with a deep or solid connection will survive. An Archetypal explanation as to why bouncebacks usually don't last is that they start during retrograde right after a stiction induced breakup.

The Birthcard today is the King of Diamonds, a Mars expression of a Venus core with a 3 of Clubs inside and a 7 of Spades outside. KDs include Charles Darwin, Faye Dunaway, Rudolph Valentino, Sharon Stone, Christina Ricci, Ray Manzarek, Seymour Hersh, Harriet Tubman, and Vicente Fox.

May 5 2009 Cinco de Mayo

For the Fifth of May, Moon in Libra was trine Mercury exact at 5:47 am PDT, will be square Pluto exact at 8:22 am PDT, opposite Venus exact at 11:20 am PDT, and much later, opposite Mars exact at 9:54 pm PDT. Mixed message here: the morning will likely start off with easy communication and articulation of congruence between intellect and emotion; but with intense emotions. Particularly emotions about any kind of relationship, deep ones revealed. The ease is likely to fade throughout the day, possibly replaced by annoyance by evening. The challenge is to not be indifferent to emotions, but also not be swept up in them. This may be somewhat frustrated by a hint of stubbornness in the air today.

The Birthcard today is the Ace of Spades, the Card of the Magi, a Mercury expression of a Neptune core, with a 7 of Hearts inside and 2 of Clubs outside. Stan Grof, Dan Aykroyd, Sydney Pollack, Chuck Barris, Ravi Shankar, Yuri Gagarin, Daniel Ellsberg, and Jennifer Aniston are a cast of characters who share this Birthcard, and at least one of them knows it.

May 4 2009

Deep dreams last night? Or, possibly the meaning of them was deep? Moon in Virgo is pulling away from an overnight Saturn conjunct, which lit up the grand trine of Sun/Saturn/Lilith Moon. See last few posts on that. The Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune triple conjunct is still happening. Moon will be opposite Uranus, exact at 6:31 pm PDT, when she goes Moon Void of Course till the wee hours of the night. Possibility of emotional surprises tonight, but any upsets will also lack mojo, so can be regarded as the illusions they most often are. There may be a bit of an edge in the air today, driven just because; accompanied by a seemingly paradoxical neediness.

The Birthcard today is the 2 of Spades, a Neptune implementation of a Mars core, with a 6 of Spades inside and a King of Clubs outside. 2Ss include Jeff Bezos, Howard Stern, Heather Mills, Melanie Chrisholm, Alex Comfort, Gary Numan, and Marilu Henner.

May 3 2009

How were your dreams last night? Moon in Virgo was square Mercury and trine Pluto overnight; any irritations in the dreamworld may have had deeper meanings. This would be a good morning for deep, intense, meaningful connection. Superficiality won't do. This complements transits other than Moon from yesterday which are still with us. Moon will be trine Sun exact at 10:03 pm PDT, trine Lilith Moon right afterward, and conjunct Saturn, exact overnight. We will likely be feeling the grand trine more than just the usual lonely Moon/Saturn feeling. Any feelings of smallness will likely be felt in context of the vastness of the Universe. A good evening to look at Hubble Telescope pictures, listen to some Spacemusic. There may be a creative "all of the above" vibe in the air, possibly wanting to take it all in and having trouble deciding or narrowing down choices.

The Birthcard today is the 3 of Spades, a Saturn implementation of a Jupiter core, with a 6 of Diamonds inside and a Jack of Diamonds outside. 3Ss include a creative mix of characters: Alexander Hamilton, Arthur Hailey, Wilhelm Maybach, Alice Walker, Golda Meir, Jim Webb, Pete Seeger, Lee Ritenour, Naomi Judd, Bette Davis, James Brown, Reverend Ike, and Marilyn Monroe.

May 2 2009

The Sun/Saturn/Lilith Moon grand trine is still with us. That is maybe a lite version of the mythical Total Perspective Vortex from Hitchiker's Giude to the Galaxy. Fiction, yes; but very insightful writings. Venus, out of retrograde is passing exact square Pluto today, so be good to each other. Jupiter has moved close to the Chiron/Neptune conjunction, to where it really is not individual heavenly bodies (Planets and Planetiods in this case) being transited, but a cluster. So, Moon sweeping opposite the cluster today will less likely be a sequence (speed bumps as they are called here) and more likely emphasize the pullings of one's heartstrings of idealism. One individual facet to watch is that it is not a good evening for self medication, not that anybody ever listens to that advice. Moon finishing up in Leo is opposite Jupiter exact at 11:24 am PDT, opposite Chiron exact at 2:20 pm PDT and opposite Neptune exact at 3:09 pm PDT. Moon is Void of Course from 3:09 pm PDT till 9:37 pm PDT when she enters Virgo, so a good afternoon/evening to chill to an Arthouse Flick. There may be a more stable underpinning today than yesterday, possibly a bit too rigid, but useful if tenacity is called for.

The Birthcard of the day is the 4 of Spades, a Jupiter expression of a Venus core, with a 10 of Clubs inside and a 4 of Hearts outside. 4Ss amongst us in body and memory include Rod Stewart, Jim Croce, Maya Angelou, Hugh Masakela, Nick Nolte, James Dean, Alan Greenspan, and Ivan Boesky.

May 1 2009 Moon First Quarter

May Day greetings. Sun is sextile Juno. Moon in Leo was trine Mars, exact at 5:43 am PDT, will be sextile Vesta exact at 8:10 am PDT, and square Sun exact at 1:44 pm PDT. A mini grand trine, Moon/Vesta/Mars. Good time to get things done at home, plan long term, feel connected at home, as there may also be a bit of restleness in the air that needs grounding. Enjoy. The Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune trio conjunct is still pulling at your idealistic heartstrings. See Apr 29 post about Sun/Saturn/Lilith Moon grand trine.

The Birthcard today is the 5 of Spades, a Venus expression of a Mars core with a 10 of Hearts inside and a 4 of Diamonds outside. Sinclair Lewis, Jane Goodall, Jimmy Page, Eddie Izzard, Emo Philips, Rex Harrison, and Eddie Murphy are quite a cast of characters sharing this Birthcard.
